The SODS
had their monthly Reef Watch dive on Sunday, 4th April, 2004.
A range of survey methods were practiced by the various participants
at different stages of the course. Congratulations to Brian,
Val, Roger, Hayden & Greg on completing the course.

Dive Club LIT session
The FDC
continued their Reef Watch training program at Carrickalinga,
on Saturday, 3rd April, 2004, with all participants completing
their line intercept transect training in challenging conditions.
Most club members now need to complete only the quadrat dive
to complete the course.

Divers' Club return to Second Valley
The SDC
progressed its Reef Watch training at Second Valley, on Saturday,
20th March, 2004. Line intercept transect training was undertaken
at the point, then a fish count was done at Lassiters.

A
significant amount of fish identification, fish survey and
LIT training took place at the Marathon Dive on 14th March,
2004.

Divers' Club at Lassiter's Reef
The SDC
commenced its Reef Watch training at their adopted reef, Lassiter's
at Second Valley, on Monday 26th January, 2004. Fish identification
and quadrats were completed in ideal conditions.

first graduates
The SODS
held another training day at Port Noarlunga on Sunday, 25th
January, 2004, with 16 divers. Alan Charlton, Janis Chippendale,
Heather Bird and Pat Manno completed their training. Many
others started the program or progressed further through the
course.

Dive Club catchup on fish surveys
A number
of members of the Fleurieu Dive Club had a catchup day on
Saturday, 24th January, at Carrickalinga. The club is now
ready to progress to quadrat and LIT training.

Reef Watch
held a second training dive/snorkel on Friday, 23rd January,
for students participating in its work experience program.
During this dive Julia Murrie completed the Reef Watch training
program.

Reef Watch
held a training dive/snorkel on Wednesday, 14th January, for
students participating in its work experience program. This
also provided an opportunity for PADI instructors Nick Turich
and David Albano to gain further experience with the program.
SODS go quadratting
The Southern
Oceans Divers Social Club (SODS) undertook further quadrat
training at Port Noarlunga reef on Sunday, 11th January, building
apon the algal identification skills learnt at recent club
meetings.

commenced its program to monitor the HMAS Hobart on Thursday,
11th December, 2003. .

adopt Hallet Cove Reef
The Marine
Life Society of SA commenced their monitoring at Hallett Cove
on Saturday 7th December as part of the "adopt a reef"
program, with support from divers from other clubs. Ben Brayford
managed to organise the event, complete his PADI Reef Watch
Survey Diver specialty, undertake five surveys and appear
on Channel Ten National News, all in one day.

adopt Seacliff Reef
A
boatload of Adelaide University Scuba Club divers commenced
their training program on the 15th November 2003 ,with
a fish identification dive on Seacliff Reef. The group
also made a number of sightings of "Feral or
In Peril" species of conservation concern.
