Jewels of the Sea kits

These resource-packed kits come in both primary and middle years versions. They contain everything you could possibly need to run a marine education unit for weeks, even from very remote locations! There is a teacher guide, written in 2001, with SACSA links and activities across the board, many inspiring ideas, such as a script for a marine environment awareness play, ideas for music as well as science, maths and technology. This teacher guide has hundreds of websites and other resources listed. A copy of the teacher guide was sent to every school in South Australia in 2001, so check with your school librarian to see if you have a copy, the full title is ‘Jewels of the Sea: A marine education resource guide’.

ISBN: 0 9579987 0 8

Each of these kits comes with age-appropriate reference books, DVDs/ videos and boxes of items such as beach combing objects both natural and man-made, shells, sponges, models, soft toys and much, much more.

Optional kits include a puppet kit and a poster kit.

These kits can be hired from the Nature Education Centre, based at Norwood Primary School. Unfortunately they must be picked up by the hirer, because they are too heavy to go through the DECS courier system.
