Reference Group
The Conservation Reference Group for the Prawn co-management project
comprises representatives of member groups and staff of the Conservation
Council of South Austrlia (CCSA). The group brings together a diverse
range of views on conservation and fisheries management.
The group members are:
| Alex Gaut |
Alex is the Biodiversity Program Co-ordinator at ConservaitonSA.
Alex has a background in marine biology and education, and is responsible
for the
implementation of both marine and terrestrial programs and projects,
such as
Reef Watch, Feral or In Peril, the prawn co-management project, the
Mt Lofty Ranges Southern Emu Wren and Fleurieu Peninsula Swamps Recovery
Program, and the South East Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo Recovery Program.

| Matt Osborne |
Matt is a steering committee member of Fishers For Conservation and
project manager of their sustainable fishing education project. He is an Honours graduate
in Marine Biology from Flinders University. |
| Shen Dycer |
Shen is the Marine Campaigner for The Wilderness Society, SA Branch. Prior
to joining TWS in February 2009, she practised as a commercial lawyer for
three
years, specialising in Environment, Planning & Climate Change
law. Her
younger years were spent in Goolwa, and she counts Middleton Cliffs,
Kings Beach and Deep Creek CP as some of her favouite beach walks/swimming
spots. |
| Neville Skinner |
Neville is the secretary for the Marine Life Society of SA (MLSSA).
Until recently he was President of the SA Division of the Electronic Technician's
Institute of Australia, and an active member of both the Cave Divers
Association of Australia and the Cave Exploration Group of South Australia.
He is also involved with the Scuba Divers Federation of SA as the representative
for MLSSA. His interests are SCUBA diving, underwater photography,
caving and conservation of the environment, for without the latter
the others would all be worthless.

| Kathryn Warhurst |
Kathryn is the Conservation Office Manager for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation
Society (Australasia) Inc (WDCS). She has a degree in Environmental
Science, and has been working for WDCS for four years. She has a background
in environmental policy including a short stint with the SA Department
for Environment and Heritage, working on Marine Mammal issues. Kathryn has
had an ongoing interest in fisheries, and more recently in her work
for WDCS with fisheries/cetacean interactions.

| Chris Ball |
Chris has a strong background in social justice issues, but has
worked at Conservation SA for most of the past decade. He has coordinated
a range of programs, including Reef Watch, Shark Watch and terrestrial
conservation programs. |
| James Brook |
James Brook has been involved in marine conservation initiatives
with CCSA for the past decade years, with a particular focus on marine
protected areas, reef monitoring and fisheries. He has additional
experience in environmental impact assessment and monitoring through
technical work as a consultant. James has represented CCSA on a number
of local and national fishing committees, including three years as
the conservation representative on a Federal Government management
advisory committee and scientific reference group. He has also convened
a series of public workshops on key fishing issues.
